Velux Skylight Installation in Los Angeles
Hollywood Skylights installs Velux skylights throughout Los Angeles County, the same factory-specified installation you would get from any certified installer, without referral program overhead. We are not locked into recommending one product line. If Velux is right for your roof, we install it right. If something else fits better, we tell you.
We have installed Velux FCM curb-mount units, VCS solar-powered venting skylights, and QPF low-profile units across LA from Sherman Oaks ranch homes to Beverly Hills estates to commercial buildings in Downtown. Free on-site estimates on every project.

Velux Models We Install
Velux FCM (Fixed Curb-Mount) — The most common replacement unit in LA. Fits standard curb openings in sizes including 2246, 2430, and 3046. We handle flashing kit integration on tile, flat, and composition roofs.
Velux VCS/VCE (Solar-Powered Venting) — Motorized venting skylights with rain sensors. Ideal for kitchens and bathrooms. Solar-powered motor requires no electrical rough-in. Opens and closes automatically when it detects rain.
Velux VCM (Manual Venting) — Hand-operated venting skylights at a lower price point than the solar models. A good option for accessible locations where you want ventilation without the cost of a motorized unit. We install these frequently in bathrooms and laundry rooms.
Velux QPF (Low-Profile Fixed) — For low-pitched roofs common in LA ranch-style homes. Frequently installed in the San Fernando Valley and South Bay where roof pitches below 3:12 are standard.

Common Velux Problems We Fix
Failed flashing — The most common cause of Velux leaks in LA. Tile roofs in particular require careful step and counter-flashing integration that many installers skip or shortcut. We re-flash to manufacturer spec and source Velux flashing kits for most models.
Fogged or failed IGU (insulated glass unit) — When the seal between glass panes fails, moisture enters and causes permanent fogging. We replace IGUs on most Velux models without replacing the entire frame — significantly lower cost than full unit replacement.
Poor original installation — We regularly correct improper installations from other contractors: wrong curb height, inadequate nailing patterns, missing secondary water barriers, and skylights installed without proper underlayment integration. If your Velux is leaking and it was installed by someone else, we will give you an honest assessment of whether it can be corrected or needs replacement.
Frequently Asked Questions — Velux Skylights in Los Angeles
Do I need a Velux-certified installer to keep my warranty valid?
Velux product warranties cover manufacturing defects regardless of who installs the unit. We install to factory specifications and document our work.
How does your pricing compare to program contractors?
We typically match or come in below certified program installers. We provide an itemized quote so you can compare line by line.
Can you service a Velux skylight installed by another contractor?
Yes. We service and repair Velux units regardless of who installed them. Most units have a label on the frame with the model and manufacture date.
What glass specs should I ask about for an LA installation?
For most LA locations, low-E with moderate SHGC (0.30–0.40) works well. For west-facing Valley skylights, we recommend low-SHGC glass (0.20–0.25). We will recommend the right spec for your roof orientation during the estimate.
Is Velux the right choice for my project, or should I consider other brands?
Velux makes a solid, reliable mid-range skylight and it is the right call for a lot of projects, especially straightforward residential replacements where the sizing works and you want a proven product with good parts availability. That said, Velux offers essentially no customization. The frame is gray. If you want a different frame finish to match your roof tiles/shingle or flashing/trim, that is not available. There are no tinted glass options, no choices on glass thickness, and the skylight must be glazed in a single panel. If you are on a hillside in the Hollywood Hills and you want a bronze-framed skylight with tinted glass to complement your interior, or you need an installation with specific performance specs, we would steer you toward a manufacturer that gives you those choices. Frame finish to match your roof, glass tint to suit your interior, and a low-E coating calibrated to your specific energy efficiency needs. We will tell you which direction makes sense for your project during the estimate. No upselling, no brand loyalty.
